Shall fill up the online RMA procedure and let's see how it progresses. You can enter "Test Failure" or "SMART Failure". Did you put it back in the original casing before sending? 3. If someone can better clarify that, I would appreciate it. check over here
Doing a periodic backup is ALWAYS a good idea. After solving your problem, please mark it as solved by clicking 'flair' and confirming the 'solved' tag. If you want to be certain, write some more data to it after the first off/on and do another power cycle. There's a space provided for mentioning the reason (in not more than 30 letters!). 1. https://hardforum.com/threads/new-hdd-spin-up-time-low-problematic.1749437/
Hopefully it's not too late if you can get your data off your drive. Did you send it and get a replacement for it? 2. Then it hit me that, in Ubuntu I had Suspended the system, making essentially all my hardware stop. Although I agree it would have been much better if you did the full format before putting data on the drive.
As noted by another above, all that really counts when you look at the values are the raw data numbers. What is this box next to my car's battery? After reading up on Wiki about SMART and the errors, I discovered that Spinup time is the time required for the disk to reach full spinning speed in milliseconds. I was thinking this the reason why this hardrive won't work on 6 gb/s ports.

But I haven't had the time to get to it. –bioShark Nov 21 '11 at 23:42 On the HDD in question, I have 5 partitions. New yellow ones are sad- already soggy and weak by the time the pizza arrives. #13 BIKeINSTEIN, Apr 24, 2009 Emil Well-Known Member Adept Joined: Nov 10, 2005 Messages: 1,397 Generate the RMA #. I bet that parameter measures the time it takes for the platter to reach a minimum speed so spinup can start. I read that these failures usually take about 2 weeks to seize up your HDD, but it seems to be working just fine a year later. Although on non windows OSs I would do a 4 pass badblocks rw test. If thats the only issue I dont' think there is a problem with your disk. Asked by bioShark on 2011-12-16 Using: Ubuntu 11.10, on a Intel Q6600, Samsung Spinpoint F4 2TB.
I have placed it inside of my PC and formatted it through Windows 7 (quick format). So your reading is good. If you want to be really cautious do a full format, then write a full 2TB of writes to it. have a peek at these guys The drive is fine.
I was planning to run the self test (written on a bootable CD) from Samsung and see what that spits out. Support that violates other's privacy, or breaks terms and agreements is not allowed. And this is what my drive currently reads as: http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/8819/hdd235hours.jpg Some improvement, though a few of the areas still look a bit off. The error was: Spinup time failed Value 21, Threshold value was 25 (so the error was reported because 21 < 25) I restarted and booted up in Windows to see what
You do have a non-0 (raw) value now from the latest spin-up: "2112" in hex, which translates to 8466 in decimal. więc proszę o opinię. Would "High spin-up time" qualify for an RMA? 2. wiem ze spin up time to czas potrzebny do "rozkręcenia" talerzy dysku i nie wiem za bardzo co o tym sądzić, gdzieś przeczytałem ze to wina dziadowskiego zasilacza....
permalinkembedsavegive gold[â]tacos_y_burritos[S] 0 points1 point2 points 1 year ago*(2 children)So I went to the Samsung support site, entered my hard drive's serial number, and it says that there are no firmware updates available Then again, you have had less than 5 such cycles so far; the firmware may need some more time to record, as mentioned by another above. If crystaldisk doesn't show any issues after that I'd feel confident using it. Even for me it took about 25 days for my 500 GB HDD replacement to arrive. #11 varkey, Apr 24, 2009 zhopudey Well-Known Member Adept Joined: May 14, 2005 Messages:
