That worked very well and now my Mac is not noisy any more. But another issue has shown, the GPU is running very hot and the iMac shuts down when it hits 80 degrees Celsius. I used the aftermarket OWC iMac in-line thermal sensor kit and replaced a bad HDD. The official option is to buy a larger drive from Apple as a service part; these would come with the necessary firmware to make the BMC happy, but also have a Tim Small Excellent data thanks… You seem to be operating your datacentre at coolish temperatures by the look of things. I assume you don't have a dealer network or other associations with companies who can perform owc installs in the Portland, Oregon metro area?The iMac is still very difficult to upgrade I am not sure if you have checked the Apple forums for resolution. Fan is running at full speed now. Someone else on this thread commented about this earlier so Seagate may well be accommodating iMac users without publicizing the fact.
