chroot /mnt/hda3
grub-install /dev/hda The last command would not work. I have a thread running over at Ubuntu where you can find a lot of information: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8761865 Any help (either here or there) you might be able to offer will be https://stringofthoughts.wordpress.com/2009/05/24/grub-error-17-debianubuntu/
